Márcio Tavares holds a PhD in Art (UnB) and a Master's degree in History (UFRGS). A historian, curator, and cultural manager, his work focuses on research into Latin American art, memory, audiovisual production, museology, and cultural policies.
He served as the coordinator of Memory and Heritage in Rio Grande do Sul (RS), worked on the Chamber of Deputies' Culture Committee, helped organize the "Lula Livre" festivals, coordinated the culture sector in Lula's 2022 campaign, and was part of the Transition Cabinet.
Today, he is the Executive Secretary of the Ministry of Culture.
